Advocacy--Legislation, Lobbying and Advocacy

Legislation, Lobbying, Advocacy

BOMA GLR's Advocacy Committee is a grass roots organization involved in efforts to influence legislation impacting BOMA members. We work in tandem with BOMA International which spearheads advocacy efforts on a national level.

On a local level we benefit real estate interests through our commitment to educate, inform and make proposed legislation understandable, accessible and available to our members.

BOMA GLR hosted a forum with the candidates, Congressman French Hill and State Senator Joyce Elliott, for the 2020 2nd District Congressional race. The event was taped at Red & Blue Events Venue with participants observing all recommended safety considerations. Questions allowed each candidate to express their positions on commercial real estate concerns.

Sponsors included Commercial Real Estate Council of Metro Little Rock (CREC MLR), Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM) Arkansas Chapter, Arkansas Apartment Association (AAA), Mortgage Bankers Association of Arkansas, North Pulaski Board of Realtors, Plaza West Building, Union Plaza Commercial Real Estate, Laidlaw Inc., and D&B Janitorial Services.

Our efforts can be summarized by a statement of our greatest President, Abraham Lincoln:

“I am a firm believer in the people. If given the truth, they can be depended upon to meet any national crisis. The great point is to bring them the real facts.”

Roger Lacy's avocation as a scholar of American history gives his committee the leadership to understand how government works and how legislation will affect commercial real estate.
